Olive Oil and Wine tasting at Anoskeli Winery

Overview: Only local guides, driving 7 seater 4wd, full A/C, vehicles , will allow you to explore on really comfortable conditions a part from the mainland of Crete which compatible vehicles, buses or mini buses, can’t offer. So it is not just a tour for tastings, driving you from one to another winery/olive mill, but it is an adventurous Semi Private exploring tour, with lunch time and not just snacks and beverages. In our first stop we will visit the “Saint John the Hermit” cave and you will enjoy the view from the nature belvedere. A few minutes later will be at the 3000-5000 years old olive tree and at Anoskeli's olive mill and winery for your tastings.Driving on rough roads you will enjoy the view from Topolia or Sebronas gorge, depending from which from the restaurants will be open at the time for your lunch time. Your delicious lunch will consist of a traditional Cretan flavor with Cretan Salad, a glass of wine or beer and dessert. During the guided safari tour you will learn about life in Cretan villages, olives pick, olive oil production, Cretan wine, honey production, distillation of "raki" - "tsikoudia", and Cretan cuisine, culture, history and tradition. Saint John the Hermit Cave: In our first stop you will visit the “Saint John the Hermit” cave, where he lived the 16th century for 3 years. You will enjoy the view from the Aegean Sea (to the North) up to the White Mountains (to the South).During the Ottoman occupation, at the same cave there was a "secret school" where the young boys from the close villages learned to read and write Greeks. Ano Vouves: Admire, touch it and take plenty of photos of the unique 3000 - 5000 years old olive tree which is still productive! You will see a traditional stone olive mill and a small typical farm in Crete. Time for a cup of coffee/mountain teα or a fresh orange juice, enjoying your time to the countryside. Anoskeli: At Anoskeli's Olive mill and winery the Sommeliers and Wine-Olive Oil producers, as more professional in their sector, will inform you about the wine and olive oil when they serve you.Taste the organic extra virgin olive oil, spread on warm bread with oregano, salt and lemon juice. Continue with a winery experience by trying 5 different labels of local wine, accompanied by Cretan snacks. Keep your privacy and have an enjoyable time, tasting local products. Mainland of West Crete: It is the right time to see what we offer more from our competitors. Driving on rough roads at the countryside will explore the mainland of the west part of Crete, where are olive trees, vineyards, many small villages and gorges. You will enjoy the view of the Topolia or Sebronas gorge depending from the restaurant that we will decide to serve the lunch. Admire and take plenty of photos of wild landscape nature.You will have the opportunity to see local mountain goats and watch the vultures fly from their nests up to the sky. Restaurant: Depending from the period of the year that you join the tour, we choose a different restaurant, trying if it is possible to avoid to be so crowdy, during your lunch time.
